How it started... our story
1996- A Passion For Writing
Janine grew up in Perth Amboy NJ and from as early as the age of 9 she was writing poetry, songs and short stories. She always knew she wanted to become an author. At a very early age she also knew that she did not want to go through a traditional publishing company and have them take ownership of her rights. As you know, in the 90s we didn't have the internet and self publishing as accessible as we do now. Janine opted to hand writing her very first book at the age of 15 full of poetry.
2015- Humble Beginnings
Every year Janine would write her book, perfect it and then put it down. She did this year after year. Ultimately, she was afraid of publishing her book. She would question what people would think and if she was a good enough writer. At the age of 28, after 19 years of putting her book to the side, she got sick and tired of her own excuses and finally published her very first book titled "Through My Eyes" At her very first book launch event she only had 7 people show up but she was excited that she finally did it! She opened up her business shortly thereafter. With only $1.63 to her name and the rats that would climb up her fridge, she made a decision she would change the trajectory of her life.
2018- Planting the Seed
Janine continued to publish books and started to get Media attention. Many writers would reach out to her asking her for advice or wanting 1:1 coaching. She understood that God called her to do a specific assignment on this earth and that was to help people be vulnerable and publish their books. She started coaching Authors and shifted from a "Me mentality to a We mentality."
2019- Rich Dad
Janine had the opportunity to have dinner with Robert Kiyosoki, the author of "Rich Dad Poor Dad." At dinner, Robert asked everyone, "What is the self limiting belief that holds you back when it comes to money and your business?" Janine replied: "My parents never taught me." and Robert replied: "How much longer are you going to have that problem?"
Janine knew that if she didn't change her mindset, then nothing would change. So she started to invest in multiple coaches, mentors and trainings to teach her what she needed to know.
2019- A Pandemic Business Boom
End of 2018, Janine walked away from corporate America. She had a very strong intuitive feeling that she needed to shift her business model to online virtual group training. She started promoting her online book coaching program without even having a program ready. She was able to enroll beta testers for her first course and made over $15,000 in 3 days. During the pandemic when every business was going out of business, the Book Publishing Academy took off.
2020- The Seed is Sprouting
The Book Publishing Academy started to grow. A growing Author Community was established and we started to get even more media attention. From Billboards, to features on CBS, NBC, FOX, Telemundo, Univision to name a few. The Book Publishing Academy received a proclamation from the City of Phoenix naming April 16th as Book Publishing Academy Day.
2021- A Growing Author Community
The Book Publishing Academy continued to grow. We currently have over 80 authors enrolled, over 35 books published, Multiple #1 Best Sellers, National Speakers and we are just getting started.
2022- VIsion for the future
The first decade of Janine's entrepreneur journey consisted on growth and dialing down the business processes. Now that she's accomplished that, her vision is to create the largest community of Self Published Authors in the world.
